What are futons?

A futon is a thin mattress used for sleeping as a kind of bed coming from Japan. It has been produced in the same way for centuries and nowadays it is extremely successful in the world of "western civilization". It is made of completely natural materials, containing only refined cotton fibers or sheep fleece of the highest quality. Its coating is made of 100% cotton.

1. COMFORT – Sleeping on futons lets your body enjoy a completely different feeling of comfort than any other kind of mattress. There are no metal springs to disturb your sleep. You can provide your body with nothing better than sleeping on the mattress made of high quality natural materials. In a few words – you sleep "wrapped in cotton wool".
2. HEALTH POINT OF VIEW – The futon is not a result of any "HI TECH" design, nevertheless 99% of the Japanese sleep on the futons and they have least problems with their spin all over the industrialized world. The futon is a hard mattress with feeling of softness, suitable for people suffering from allergies, and friendly with environment as there are no chemical components. The fleece made of natural fiber warrants high hygiene because of its ability to absorb and reveal humidity quickly. Thus, it prepares soft and comfortable place for body to sleep, on contrary to any manmade fiber.
3. PRICE – A futon sofa is cheaper than a standard upholstered sofa or any other mattress of a comparable quality. An upholstered sofa hides all gross imperfections – the futon does not. Everything must be clean and of a high quality there.
4. VARIATIONS – At daytime – a living room with futon can be changed into a bedroom at night. It is easy to decorate with the futon – we offer you interesting types of lining made of coarse cotton. Are you asking about its up-keeping? There is not anything easier – just unzip, take the lining off, and wash it.
5. CHOICE If you have no need to have the wooden convertible frame with your futon, it does not matter. The futon has been used for sleeping on the floor for centuries!
6. MATTRESSES TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS – We can tailor a futon of any size on only one condition – right angles. However, our standard size is 90, 140, 150, 160, 180 × 200 cm.
7. EASY HANDLING – The futon weights less than majority sofas so all the handling is much easier. Furthermore, it is flexible. You can roll or bend it. The wooden frame can be taken to pieces, so there is no problem to load up all the part into a passenger car! Try to do so with an average sofa.

Tori This impressing frame with a strong association of the traditional Japanese gate Tori, which is a kind of entrance into the holy world of your dreams. According to the traditional oriental teachings, the gate forms a natural energy protection of body while you sleep and rest. It supports fluent circulation of Ki in the space of your bed. Interior size: 140, 160, 180 × 200 cm, exterior size: 178, 198 × 218 cm, height approx. 25 cm Variant: 100% massive spruce wood, with no surface modifications or saturated with beeswax or glaze NATURAL. Matsu Non-convertible bed of a Japanese style, timeless elegancy. Individual parts groove one into another without using screws. Interior size: 160, 180 × 200 cm, exterior size: 178, 198 × 218 cm, height approx. 25 cm Variant: 100% massive pine or oak wood, with no surface modifications or saturated with beeswax or glaze NATURAL. It is necessary to include a GRID for MATSU frame – see the price list. It is possible to make the frame of a smaller interior size, the price, you should count on with, is minimally the same as for the size 160 × 200 cm. Bigger size than 180 × 200 cm (e.g. 200 × 220 inner size) is available The frame can also be delivered in any height. Geta (with or without rollers) A massive construction, easy converting into 3 positions: a sofa, or after a decomposition, a king size bed. Tanuki The most luxurious frame of our offer. It is lain higher above the floor. Wooden rollers enable easy decomposition into a deg with two unusual positions, ideal for reading and relaxation. It is possible to choose either glazing or beeswax. To reach a perfect surface modification we recommend to use both glazing and beeswax at the same time, according to the following instructions: color glazing in combination with colorless beeswax or colorless glazing in combination with color beeswax (see the price list).

Types of futons

Shiatsu:
A 5–7 cm thin mat filled with cotton. Intended for massages Shiatsu, Thai massages and other forms of health exercise, meditation, relaxation.

Yuki:
A version on the futon Cotton that is thicker and heavier by 35%. The filling is compressed in three directions. The type can keep up the shape on the frame Yuki.

Cotton:
Designed for people who like sleeping on "hard" foundation, and for those who do not want any bigger investments
It cools in summer.
Suitable for people suffering from allergies
Height 10–12 cm, intended for frequent folding, filled with 100% layered cotton. Suitable mainly for the futon Tenno, Geta, but also for other types from the price list

W-Cott:
Provides you with a unique comfort
Thanks to wool it cools in summer and warms in winter. Wool fiber is curled, thus it forms more space for air to float through, and all absorbed humidity evaporates very quickly, this warrants pleasant feeling for your body. Natural lanolin neutralizes sweat.
Height: 12–14 cm, filled with a combination of cotton and wool layers (100%)
Suitable for the futon: Tanuki, Tenno, Getta. Intended for frequent folding.

Coco:
Not interchangeable comfort of sleeping on a "hard" foundation with feeling of softness
Tough and yielding material, keeps up its shape, suitable for higher weight, as well.
Height: 13–15 cm, filled with a 3 cm coco-fiber core bound with layers of cotton and wool
It is suitable for MATSU frame, or possibly Yuki or another type of a flat bed, even for the frame of your bed. Not for convertible frames – it is possible to break the fibers, the only convertible frame suitable for the type of filling is Yuki that is convertible in a different way (than e.g. Geta or Teno). The futon is only bent not folded.

Double-Coco:
Futon has outstanding and stable flexibility and nearly no tendency to flatten. Its height is 10–12 cm, the filling – 2 cores made of coco fiber covered in cotton and wool, suitable for flat surface

Latex:
A luxurious futon with a high flexibility and adaptability to the anatomy of your body. The futon is filled with cotton so that is can provide you with the comfort and quality described hereof for the futon Classic.
Height: 13–15 cm, filled – with 3 cm core of natural rubber enwound by layers of cotton and wool
The mattress is softer.
Suitable for all the types of frames. Keeps the shape even if used with convertible frames.

Double-Latex:

Ko-lat:
Combination of Coco and Latex. The Coco side is a little harder than the Latex side.

Exklusive:
This luxurious futon offers maximum comfort and quality. Its height is 13–15 cm, filling: coco core, natural caoutchouc and coco, covered in cotton and wool. Suitable for flat surface.

All the types of futons are usually in an ecru coating. It is possible to buy an upper decorative coating or to ask for a color ecru coating instead of the original one.
All the futons are delivered in sizes: see the price list here under. However it is possible to order a futon of the size you need, i.e. ATYP (e.g. 95×185, also 205 cm, max 220 cm). Note: If you choose any of ATYP sizes their price will always be the same as the price of the next bigger futon in our price list. Bigger Futons than the items in the price list – prices are from plus 5% add to the price of 180×200 cm size (get info about your ATYP-futon in advance). Generally it is possible to count: plus each 5 cm of the width = +5%, plus each 5 cm of the length = +5%.
To fulfill areas bigger than the size of the offered futons is it is possible to choose 2 or more pieces.
E.g.: The area 280 × 200 cm – 2 futons 140 × 200 cm are needed, etc.

Makura
The mat which protects your futon from staining, used between a futon and a sheet. Its height is 3 cm, filled with cotton or wool (according to you choice). Makura is usable for exercising, massages, staying overnight of your guests. Makura is a pleasant place for your children to play.

Futon Pipilio
We can offer you the standard size of children beds, 60 × 120 cm and 70 × 140 cm. We can supply you with other sizes as well, according to the size of your child's bed or crib.
These futons are delivered in the height of 7–9 cm, they are a little bit thinner than the samples hereunder – cross-sections of individual futons.

Zabuton
A cushion for sitting, size: 75 × 75 cm, height: 5 cm, filled with cotton.

Zafu
A cushion for meditation with coating in several colors (see the part "Coating".
